The following subject-related information is stored:

• name: a textual identifier that must be given and unique
• alias: a subject can be given an alias that may be better readable than the name/identifier, may be non-unique
• birth date: date of subject birth, optional
• gender: female/male/hermaphrodite/unknown
• species: link to user-defined species entries
• supplier: link to user-defined suppliert entries
• housing unit: link the housing unit the subject is kept in
• entry date and time
